I live about 10 minutes from the beach, so coastal style has naturally become part of my everyday life.
It's in the way I dress.
It's in the colors and fabrics I gravitate toward.
It's in the pieces I reach for when I don't want to think too hard about what I'm wearing.
And honestly, it's a big part of why I started DASSA.
I've realized that my idea of a coastal wardrobe isn't really about owning a bunch of “beach clothes.”
It's about having pieces that make sense for the lifestyle.
What Coastal Style Means to Me
When I hear “coastal fashion,” I don't immediately think of seashells, nautical prints, or dressing like I'm going to the beach every day.
For me, it's more subtle.
It's something flowy.
Something lightweight.
A relaxed button-up.
A feminine dress.
Simple accessories.
Clothes that feel good when it's warm outside.
I want to be able to put something on and feel comfortable whether I'm grabbing coffee, heading to the beach, meeting a friend for lunch, or going somewhere for dinner.
That's my version of coastal chic.
I Want My Clothes to Do More
One thing I'm learning while building DASSA is how important versatility is.
I don't want to buy something and only have one way to wear it.
Take the Long Sleeve Button-Up Shirt.
It can be worn open as a layer, styled with a simple outfit, thrown over beachwear, or buttoned up for a more polished look.
The Flowy Midi Skirt works the same way.
Change the top, shoes, or accessories and suddenly you have a completely different outfit.
That's what I want when I shop for clothing.
More possibilities.
Not more stuff.
And Then Sometimes You Just Need the Fun Piece
Of course, not everything needs to be practical.
Sometimes I see something and immediately think, I love that.
That's how I feel about the Basima Dress Sequin.
It's a little more playful.
A little more unexpected.
And sometimes that's exactly what your wardrobe needs.
Because fashion isn't always about having the most versatile piece.
Sometimes it's simply about wearing something that makes you feel beautiful.
Building DASSA Slowly
That's how I'm approaching DASSA too.
Slowly.
I'm not trying to fill a website with hundreds of pieces just because I can.
I'm trying to find clothing that feels right.
Pieces that fit the DASSA feeling.
Effortless.
Feminine.
Coastal.
Versatile.
And easy to make your own.
I'm still figuring out exactly what DASSA will become.
But I think that's part of the fun.
I'm building it one piece at a time, from a life lived just minutes from the beach.
And if you stick around, you'll get to see it grow.
Dress easy. Live fully. Chase the sun.
