What Is Coastal Chic? My Take on the Style

When I say “coastal,” I don't mean that everything in my closet needs to look like it belongs in a beach house.

To me, coastal chic is more about a feeling.

It's effortless.

It's feminine.

It's relaxed.

It's comfortable.

And it leaves room for a little personality.

Coastal Style Isn't Just Beachwear

This is something I've thought about a lot while creating DASSA.

You don't have to be going to the beach to wear coastal fashion.

A flowy skirt can be worn to lunch.

A button-up can become part of your everyday wardrobe.

A dress can take you from vacation to dinner at home.

That's what I love about this style.

It doesn't have to be obvious.

It's simply easy.

Keep It Simple

When I don't know what to wear, I usually start with one piece I love.

Maybe it's a flowy skirt.

Maybe it's a dress.

Maybe it's an oversized shirt.

Then I build around it.

Simple shoes.

A few accessories.

Nothing too complicated.

I think that's one of the reasons I love coastal women's clothing.

The pieces can stand on their own without needing a lot of styling.

But Don't Forget to Have Fun

I also don't think every outfit needs to be neutral or practical.

Sometimes you see a piece that just makes you smile.

For me, that's the feeling I get from the Basima Dress Sequin.

It has personality.

It feels a little unexpected.

And it reminds me that getting dressed should be fun.

That's something I never want to lose with DASSA.

My Version of Coastal Chic

I don't think there's one definition of coastal chic.

Maybe yours is boho.

Maybe it's feminine.

Maybe it's simple and minimal.

Maybe you love a little sparkle.

Maybe you live near the beach.

Maybe you're hundreds of miles away and simply love the feeling of being somewhere warm.

I think coastal style can belong to all of us.

For me, it comes from living close to the ocean and wanting my wardrobe to reflect the way I actually want to live.

Comfortably.

Beautifully.

A little more freely.

And without overthinking everything.

That's the feeling I'm trying to build into DASSA.

Not just clothing.

A little piece of that coastal lifestyle.

Dress easy. Live fully. Chase the sun.
